Urgent Work

Need an Emergency Locksmith in St Kilda?

Some lock problems can wait for a quote. Others leave you standing outside, or leave a door that will not shut behind you. This page is for the second kind.

What this covers

What we handle

Everything listed here is work we actually carry out. If your situation is not on the list, describe it when you call and we will tell you honestly whether it is ours.

Included

Home and apartment lockouts

The door has closed and the keys are inside, at work, or gone. We attend to regain entry for the person entitled to be there.

Included

A lock that has failed

The key turns and nothing happens, the bolt will not throw, or the handle has gone loose and the door can no longer be secured.

Included

Lost or stolen keys

Where keys are unaccounted for, rekeying or replacing the affected locks removes the risk that the missing key still opens the door.

Included

Damaged doors and hardware

After a break-in attempt, a forced door or an accident, the priority is getting the opening closed and locking again.

Included

Urgent lock replacement

When a lock cannot sensibly be repaired, replacement hardware is fitted so the property is not left open overnight.

What actually helps when you call

The fastest calls are the ones where we can picture the door. Tell us the address, whether it is a house, an apartment or a business, and what the door looks like — timber or aluminium, one lock or two, a handle that locks or a separate deadlock above it.

It also helps to know what already happened. A key that snapped in the cylinder is a different job from a key that turns freely without moving the bolt, and a security door in front of the main door changes the approach again.

Access is only ever given to the right person

Before any door is opened we confirm that you are the owner, the tenant, or someone authorised by them. That usually means photo identification with the address on it, a lease, or contact with the managing agent or landlord.

This is not a formality we can skip. It is the reason a locksmith can be trusted with a door in the first place, and it protects you as much as the next person.

What we will not do

We do not publish or explain methods for opening locks, defeating hardware or bypassing security systems, and we do not talk anyone through it over the phone.

We also will not promise an arrival time we have not confirmed with you on the call. When you ring, you will be told honestly whether the job can be attended and roughly what is involved.

Questions

Emergency locksmith — common questions

What counts as an emergency locksmith job?

Anything where the property cannot be entered or cannot be secured: a lockout, a lock that has stopped working, keys that are missing, or a door that will not lock after damage. If the door still locks and you can get in, it is usually better handled as a booked job.

Do you provide emergency locksmith services 24 hours a day?

Our current availability is confirmed when you call on 03-4829-3155. Rather than advertise round-the-clock service we cannot guarantee, we tell you on the phone whether the job can be attended.

Will I need to prove the property is mine?

Yes. Before an opening is carried out we confirm you are entitled to access the property — typically identification showing the address, a lease, or confirmation from the owner or managing agent.

Can a damaged door be made secure the same day?

In many cases the door can be got closing and locking again with repair or replacement hardware. Where a frame or door itself is badly damaged, we will explain what part of the work is locksmithing and what needs a carpenter or glazier.
