Right now

Need help right now?

Locked out, a door that will not secure, or keys that have gone missing. Speak to someone rather than filling in a form.

Not urgent?

A lock that is getting stiff, a security upgrade you have been meaning to organise, or a quote for a property you manage.

A quick look

How secure is your property?

Three places worth thinking about. Choose one and see the questions we would ask, plus the work that usually follows.

This is a conversation starter, not a security assessment or certification. There is no score, and no lock makes a property completely secure.

Doors and main access points.

  • Does the front door need a shoulder or a lift to lock properly?
  • Is the deadlock separate from the handle, or is the handle doing all the work?
  • Do you know how many keys exist for the front door, and who holds them?
  • Has the door dropped, so the bolt no longer lines up with the strike?

Residential

Houses, apartments and everything subdivided in between.

Houses, apartments, units, townhouses and rentals across St Kilda — from a door that has started sticking to a full rethink of how the property locks up.

  • Lockouts
  • Lock repairs
  • Lock replacement
  • Rekeying

Commercial

Doors that open two hundred times a day.

Retail, hospitality, offices and managed buildings. Commercial doors work harder than domestic ones, and the question is rarely just the lock — it is who holds which key.

  • Commercial lock repair
  • Lock replacement
  • Rekeying
  • Master key arrangements

Security

Better locks. Smarter security.

Security is not a product you buy once. It is the sum of the doors, the windows, the hardware on them and the habits around keys — reviewed honestly, improved where it matters.

  • Assess — Identify the current locking setup
  • Recommend — Identify practical improvements, ranked by what actually makes a difference, with the option of doing the important part now and the rest later.
  • Install — Fit the appropriate hardware where that service is offered, prepared and aligned so it operates easily rather than needing force.
  • Maintain — Keep the system working properly

St Kilda

Built for St Kilda’s mix of homes, apartments & businesses.

Within a few blocks of Acland Street there are period houses with original joinery, walk-up flats with shared entrances, new apartments with commercial-grade hardware, and a trading strip whose doors are cycled hundreds of times a day.

Each of those locks up differently, and each brings different obstacles — an owners corporation, a managing agent, a door that has moved with sixty years of Melbourne weather, or a rear service door nobody has looked at since the lease was signed.

Knowing which of those you are dealing with before arriving is most of the job.

How it works

How the service works

  1. Contact

Tell us what happened — locked out, a lock that has stopped working, keys gone missing, or a security upgrade you have been meaning to sort out.

  2. Understand

We work out what kind of door, lock and property we are dealing with, and confirm you are entitled to access it before anything else happens.

  3. Resolve

The appropriate locksmith work is carried out: regaining access, repairing or replacing hardware, rekeying, or fitting new locks where required.

  4. Secure

You are left with a door that closes and locks properly, keys that work, and a plain-English explanation of what was done.

Our approach

A Locksmith Should Make Things Simpler.

Four things we hold ourselves to. Deliberately modest, because the useful part of this trade is turning up, explaining plainly and doing the work properly.

Clear

You hear what the problem actually is, what the options are, and what the work involves before anything is opened, drilled or replaced.

Careful

Doors, frames, paintwork and tenants are treated as things worth protecting. Tidy work is part of the job, not an extra.

Practical

The aim is to solve the problem in front of us. If a repair is the sensible answer, we say so instead of selling a replacement.

Questions

The questions we hear most.

Straight answers about what we do, what it involves and what we will not claim.

What should I do if I am locked out?

Check the simple options first — a spare key with a neighbour, family member, agent or building manager, or another door that was left unlocked. If none of those work, call a locksmith and wait somewhere safe. Avoid trying to force a door or window; that usually turns a lockout into a repair.

Can a locksmith repair a broken lock?

Often, yes. Sticking or binding locks, loose handles, misaligned doors, worn latches and broken keys in the cylinder are common and frequently repairable. Where internal components have failed or parts are no longer available, replacement is the practical option.

When should a lock be replaced instead of repaired?

When it has internal damage, when parts are unavailable, when it has already been repaired and keeps giving trouble, or when keys are unaccounted for and the hardware cannot sensibly be rekeyed.

Can an existing lock be rekeyed?

Usually, if the lock is in sound condition. Rekeying changes the key the lock accepts, so old keys stop working while the hardware stays on the door. Several compatible locks can often be rekeyed to one key.

Do you provide residential locksmith services?

Yes — houses, apartments, units, townhouses and rental properties, covering lockouts, lock repair, lock replacement, rekeying, deadlocks, and door and window locks.

Do you work with apartments?

Yes, on your own entry door and internal doors. Work on the building entrance or other common property needs the owners corporation or building manager to authorise it, so having that contact ready is helpful.
